Reach Auckland at 5am NZ time on the 14th...took shuttle bus to our backpacker stay in the city...Yup we stayed in a backpacker hostel because it was cheaper compared to hotel...Have to save on accommodation because the places we planned to visit in Nz cost a lot!
But the place we stayed was alright and it's near to the city...We were only allow to check in at 2pm so we went to walk around but it was too early every shop is still closed...It was really quiet on a Sunday...lol...

Never thought our first meal would be in Starbucks...Hahahaha...
I realised that every Starbucks in different country has different pastry...I personally prefer NZ Starbucks over Australia and Malaysia...lol...
Had Panini and Green Tea Latte for my breakfast! So yummy~
Mr.Dar's friend, Kevin is currently staying in Auckland and he brought us to rent a car for the whole trip in Auckland...It was pretty cheap to rent a car in Nz compared to Aussie...
Kevin brought us to have Dim Sum in city...This is a very famous place for Dim Sum and every table is only allowed to eat for an hour! and of course you need to make reservation...
The waitress push the trolley with food around...so many choices of Dim Sum! =D
Very delicious Dim Sum but expensive too...
That's our car for the whole trip! =) Mitsubishi Lancer...lol...
It was raining the whole day so we went for a walk in the shopping mall...
went to a few beaches but it was raining so we only drove around the city! Not a good first day...
Had Curry Laksa at Kevin's house at night and we planned for our trip...
Drove back to our hostel and went for a walk in the city...Parking costs a lot in Nz and Aussie tho! ><
I realised there's always a big building with clock in every western country...Auckland itself has 3 buildings with clock...lol...
Auckland Sky Tower!
On the second day we drove all the way down to North Island (outside Auckland)...
Tips for travelling in NZ - Rent a car and drive to places outside Auckland like Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga, Bay of Islands etc.
(There's nothing much to do in Auckland)
There are Information centre everywhere in those places so it's really convenient...
First destination - Rotorua
Rotorua is an experience not to be missed when travelling New Zealand...No visit to New Zealand would be complete without stopping there... ;) Rotorua, on the Volcanic Plateau has one of the world’s most lively fields of geothermal activity...
The Rotorua has the nickname Sulphur City, because of the hydrogen sulphide emissions, which gives the city a “rotten eggs” smell...When you smell rotten eggs that means you are in Rotorua...haha...
The scenery is very beautiful just like painting...All you can see is only greens mountains, cows and sheep...so relaxing...
bought sandwiches for breakfast at a town and then headed to Rotorua...
Took us 4 hours to reach Rotorua...
Stopped by the Information centre and bought tickets to Te Puia and Skyline for Nz$75...
Played Luge for the second time...It was hailing that time...
Nice view from the top~
The guys went for a zorb ride after that...
I din't play because I don't want to get wet on the cold winter day...lol...
Te Puia is the premier Māori cultural centre in New Zealand...A place of gushing waters, steaming vents, boiling mud pools and spectacular geysers...
Māori people looks like the one in the picture...They are the indigenous people of New Zealand...
Extra knowledge - Kiwi is the nickname used internationally for the people from New Zealand...The name derives from the kiwi, a flightless bird...
This is Kiwi bird...They called it Kiwi because it looks like a kiwi fruit... =) They only come out at night...Saw two Kiwi birds in Te Puia they are so cute...
The most famous geyser in Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley in Rotorua...
The mighty Pohutu Geyser erupts up to 15 times a day and shoots hot water around 30 meters skywards....Pohutu means "big splash" or "explosion"...
We were really lucky as the geyser erupts by the time we reached...Don't have to wait for it... =)
A group photo of us =) Nick, me, Wulala, Bryan and Kevin...
Love that place even though it smells like rotten eggs...It's so beautiful~~~
The Mud Pool~
Headed to another town called Taupo after that...Overnight at a resort because we still need to continue our journey the next day... =)
Quite a nice room but there is no toilet inside the room...only shared bathrooms and toilets outside... =( I still remembered it was 1 degree that night! Too cold~
Went for a dinner nearby recommended by the receptionist...
This restaurant looks like Hell's Kitchen...lol...
A fine dining restaurant!
Pork Ribs, Sirlion and Scallop Stack, Salmon and Scallop Stack and Pork Ribs and Beed steak...
Yummy food that costs more than NZ$30... ><
Ordered their famous dessert - Waffle with ice-cream =)
More pictures on my Fb album~ =D
Will continue blogging once I get back from Sydney! Cheers~ ^^
